Atlantic Bonito

The Atlantic Bonito, a thrilling sport fish, is regularly caught on our fishing charters, especially during February, March, and April. These feisty predators, averaging 1 – 5 Kg and growing up to 90cm , boast sharp, conical teeth and streamlined bodies with dark diagonal stripes. In Malta we catch them using various methods, including lures, live bait like mackerel or anchovies, and jigging. Known for explosive strikes and fast runs, they’re a favorite for anglers. Found in our coastal waters, Bonito often feed in schools, creating exciting surface-feeding frenzies and hooking one is an unforgettable experience.
