White Grouper

The White Grouper, known as Dott Abjad in Maltese, is a powerful bottom-dweller found in the deeper waters around the Maltese islands. While not always the main target, it is occasionally caught while trolling or bottom fishing for other large predators like amberjacks or snappers. Known for its fierce strike and strong, determined fight, the white grouper often attempts to return to its rocky hiding spot, trying to cut the line along the seabed. They typically range from 50 to 90 cm, with larger specimens reaching over a meter. Highly prized for their firm, white flesh, they’re excellent eating fish and a true catch worth chasing.
