Swallowtail Seaperch

The Swallowtail Seaperch is one of the most colourful and beautiful fish you can catch in the Mediterranean, with its vibrant red, pink, and purple hues. In Malta they are typically found in deeper waters below 50 meters, it forms large shoals, contributing to a healthy marine ecosystem. This small-sized fish remains usually measuring between 10 to 15 cm. It plays an important role as a food source for larger predators such as Red Porgy, Dentex, and Amberjack. A true indicator of a thriving reef, the Swallowtail Seaperch is occasionally caught on bottom fishing lines.
