Dentex

Dentex is one of the most sought-after fish around Malta and Gozo, especially for anglers using live bait or jigging in deeper waters. Known for its vibrant silver-blue coloration with hints of pink and its powerful build, the dentex is both a great fighter and a highly prized catch. As soon as it’s hooked, it puts up a tough, aggressive fight, truly testing your fishing gear and skills. Typically ranging from 40 to 80 cm in length, larger specimens are a real trophy. Dentex are often found near Red Porgy and Amberjack. With its prized, firm meat and extremely suspicious nature, catching one is always a rewarding challenge.
