Saddled Bream

The Saddled Bream is a common and enjoyable catch around the Maltese islands and can be caught all year round. It lives in shallow coastal waters and is often targeted using light tackle while trolling small lures. Known for its sharp eyesight, the saddled bream requires a very fine fishing line to avoid detection, making the challenge even more exciting for anglers. These silvery fish, easily identified by the dark “saddle” near their tail, typically range from 20 to 35 cm in length. Their cautious nature and spirited fight make them a rewarding catch for light tackle enthusiasts.
